After a recent ERP migration, a large packaging manufacturing company was struggling to understand the new BI environment and create critical business reports for leadership. In a matter of weeks, UDig became familiar with the Qlikview BI capabilities as well as the unique client business and operational requirements for reporting. The consultant wrote custom ETL scripts to enhance the data prep process feeding the BI tool. Once data was properly transformed, the consultant built custom reporting for the client leadership to highlight key performance indicators (KPIs). Company leadership now has quick access to critical performance metrics like contribution margin to help identify opportunities for improvement in operations.
A large packaging manufacturing company recently migrated to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software: EFI Radius. The ERP came with built-in Qlikview BI reporting, but the out-of-the-box reports were not in alignment with the company’s standard definition of operational and strategic performance metrics.
The BI tool based in Qlikview had analytic potential, but it was complex to understand how out-of-the-box reports were built or how to create new custom reports for leadership. Qlikview implements a unique flattened data schema, but it was foreign to internal analysts who were comfortable with traditional database structures and more user-friendly BI software. Client turned to UDig to apply database and BI expertise to the Qlikview environment and extract valuable reporting out of the new ERP.
By client request, UDig consultant worked with ERP vendor to learn foundational and advanced features within the Qlikview BI environment. Consultant’s extensive experience with database structures and report design sped up the knowledge transfer compared to what the client was capable of on its own.
UDig consultant created custom C++ code in the backend ETL process to load and transform data elements needed for the client’s most critical KPIs. The data was transformed to integrate with the Qlikview flattened database schema for seamless report-building. Consultant built custom reports for company leadership that provide insight to critical metrics like customer and job contribution margin, annual KPIs to budget, and more. Consultant expertise in Qlikview can now be used as needed by the client to quickly develop new reports or revise existing reports.
